Chris Sutton was having absolutely none of Kris Boyd’s Old Firm claim

Classic Sutton

Whether you’re a fan of him or not, you can never accuse Chris Sutton of failing to speak his mind when he’s on punditry duty.

In recent weeks, his straight-talking, abrasive style has ruffled a few feathers on BT Sport. Only a couple of weeks ago, we showed you how he argued with Stephen Craigan during coverage of Partick Thistle against Celtic.

Last September, ahead of the first Old Firm meeting of the season, he delivered a blunt assessment of why Celtic would win the match against Rangers.

Brendan Rodgers’ side did indeed win that match, hammering Rangers 5-1 at Celtic Park. Now, with thoughts turning to the second league Old Firm of the season on New Year’s Eve, Sutton appears just as confident that his former club will be victorious again.

Appearing on BT Sport on Friday night, Sutton reminded former Rangers man Kris Boyd that there is still a sizeable gap between the two sides.

Boyd attempted to argue that the gap wasn’t quite as wide as some were making it out to be, but Sutton was having none of it – interrupting and dismissing the 33-year-old as he tried to explain how the 5-1 humiliation three months ago flattered Celtic.
