Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Michy Batshuayi on a five-year deal.

The Belgian striker joins the Blues from Marseille, where his energetic play earned him a spot in Belgium’s Euro 2016 squad this summer. Although he did not feature in any of the group games, the 22-year-old scored with his first touch of the tournament when he got on the end of an Eden Hazard cross during Belgium’s 4-0 second round defeat of Hungary.

Despite Marseille’s 13th-place finish in Ligue 1 last season, Batshuayi recorded an impressive 23 goals and 10 assists

“I am delighted to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe and embark on the next chapter in my career,” he said, speaking to the club’s official website. “I hope I can help Chelsea win many trophies during my time at Stamford Bridge.

“Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois have told me many good things about the club, and with Antonio Conte coming in it’s an exciting time to become a Chelsea player.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for myself and my family, I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League next season.”

While an official fee has not been announced, Chelsea are believed to have shelled out £33m for the striker.
