Charles Oliveira on fighting Conor McGregor: “It would be like a black belt facing a white belt”

Charles Oliveira is well aware where the big-money fight lies in the featherweight division.

"Do Bronx" is currently slated to fight Myles Jury in December, looking to rebound from his defeat to Max Holloway which came after he injured his oesophagus in the first round. But the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist is keen on clawing his way to the top of the 145 lb division and a meeting with current interim champion Conor McGregor. Oliveira, who has finished 12 of his 20 victories by way of submission and who holds a black belt in BJJ, claims that a bout with The Notorious wouldn't last long if the fight were to end up in a grappling match. "He (McGregor) is very tough," Oliveira told BloodyElbow. "Since all fights begin standing up, I would have to work on my striking a lot, but Chad Mendes showed what Conor is like on the ground, he had his way with him.

"No doubt my Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best in the division so it would be like a black belt facing a white belt. I think he has been beating guys because of the way he talks, he bothers them and that can't happen.

"I have a dream to fight against the best and he is one of the toughest guys in the division, so I'm sure this fight will happen. When it does, he can say whatever he wants, it won't faze me. "I will do what I do best. I will walk forward and use my Jiu-Jitsu."
