Yet again, here’s another example of how football fans will believe absolutely *anything* they see on the internet.
Manchester City and their thirteen supporters travelled to Romania on Tuesday night for the first leg of their Champions League qualifier against Steaua Bucharest. Pep Guardiola’s new side made light work of their opposition, running out 5-0 victors in the Romanian capital.
Although a second leg still needs to be played in Manchester next week, the tie is effectively over. Pep can even afford to play backup keeper Joe Hart if he so wishes.
Minutes after their humbling by City, tweets apparently from Steaua Bucharest’s ‘official’ Twitter account soon started clocking up huge amounts of retweets. A quick glance at the account, and it’s perhaps easy to see why…

Admittedly, it didn’t seem like the sort of thing that the official account of a European Cup-winning football club would put into the public domain.
Yet, despite no verification tick on the account, thousands were duped into believing that this was the official stance of Steaua Bucharest.
Emanuel Rosu, a football journalist based in the Romanian capital, confirmed that this *wasn’t* the club’s official account.
