‘In this day we cannot say some things’
Wolves boss Bruno Lage has shed light on his heated touchline argument with Jesse Marsch at the end of his side’s defeat to Leeds on Saturday.
Wolves lost 2-1 at Elland Road in their Premier League opener, with the two managers seen exchanging words at full-time. This came after Lage had snubbed Marsch’s handshake after the full-time whistle.
Speaking after the game, Lage explained that he ignored Marsch after being left unimpressed by something said during the game.
“In this day we cannot say some things,” he said. “I heard that in the first half, until the first half, end of the game, we have a lot of time to shake hands, apologise, it didn’t happen.”
Lage did, however, attempt to play the disagreement down.
“There’s nothing wrong between the managers. Life goes on. Now let’s move forward to play the next game against Fulham.”

Marsch also appeared to downplay the incident.
“It was nothing,” he said. “I just had a quick word with Bruno Lage afterwards. I’ve a lot of respect for the way he and his teams play.”

Leeds had fallen behind inside six minutes earlier in the afternoon, with Daniel Podence giving the visitors the lead. Rodrigo was able to pull them level midway through the first half before Rayan Aït-Nouri’s own goal 16 minutes from time gave Leeds all three points.
