Fernandes is set to be confirmed as Man United’s new permanent captain

Bruno Fernandes is one of the few stars yet to be swayed by the endless pot of money in Saudi Arabia and has reportedly turned down two offers to move to the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia have been the talking point of the transfer window so far, with several high-profile stars making the move. The likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, Rúben Neves and more have all made the move.

They’re showing no signs of stopping either and have tried to attract other big names, including Fernandes, however Fabrizio Romano has reported that the midfielder has no plans to leave Old Trafford.

“Understand Bruno Fernandes rejected more than two approaches from Saudi one month ago,” he tweeted. “It’s only Manchester United for Bruno who’s expected to become the next permanent captain.”

Fernandes is in line to take the armband permanently following Erik ten Hag’s decision to strip Harry Maguire of the captaincy.

Maguire confirmed on Sunday that he would stand down from the role amid question marks over his future, with West Ham United reportedly planning to use some of the money they received from Declan Rice’s move to Arsenal to bring him to the London Stadium.

Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford are also said to be other candidates in line for the role.
