Brendan Rodgers one of the names in the frame to replace Jose Mourinho, claims report

Having slumped to another Premier League defeat, this time at Stoke, it’s unsurprising to see a host of names being put forward to replace Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

With many believing that the Portuguese manager is set to leave the club imminently, the Sunday Express are reporting that Roman Abramovich will look to appoint an interim manager to take charge until summer.

The report suggests that three men are being considered for the role, all with Chelsea connections.

Former managers, Guus Hiddink and Roberto Di Matteo are both named alongside someone that’s perhaps more unexpected.

Brendan Rodgers, recently replaced by Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager, worked as a youth coach at Chelsea and is also said to be under consideration.

Perhaps the reason that Abramovich is only willing to appoint a manager on a temporary basis is explained by another report in the Sunday People, which claims that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is set to become available in summer.

The Argentine is said to be of real interest to the Chelsea owner, especially if Jose Mourinho does leave the club.
