The writing was on the wall.

Wednesday night's 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night was clearly the final straw for Bayern Munich. The sorry result was their biggest Champions League group-stage defeat in 21 years, and enough was enough. Carlo Ancelotti was already a marked man in Germany, but being outclassed by PSG simply wouldn't do. When CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge warned there would be serious consequences, stating "What we've seen tonight was not Bayern Munich", it was clear that the Italian would be facing the chop. SportBild reported on Thursday morning that a meeting would be held in the afternoon to discuss Ancelotti's future to make a decision. Now ESPN have been informed that Ancelotti has indeed left his position as head coach of the German champions. He leaves the club having won one Bundesliga title and two DFL-Supercups.
