Irish football club release new kit featuring huge image of Bob Marley’s face

A really unique jersey

Bohemians have launched their away jersey for the 2019 SSE Airtricity Premier Division season. And it pays tribute to one of the most famous musicians to have played at Dalymount Park – Bob Marley.

The new kit has been manufactured by O’Neills.

“Dalymount has played a unique part, chiefly in the sporting, but also in the musical and cultural history of Dublin City, and indeed Ireland,” Bohemians director Daniel Lambert said.

“The stadium was graced; in the 1970s by Thin Lizzy and the Boomtown Rats, in the 80s by Bob Marley, Meatloaf and Black Sabbath, and in the 90s by Faith No More, Sonic Youth, Ice Cube and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

“This jersey, designed by Bohemian FC in conjunction with our new kit supplier O’Neills, gives a nod to that history and the stadium’s special place in the hearts of music, as well as football fans.”

A limited supply of the jerseys are available for pre-order. Bohs expect them to be delivered by the second week of December.

You can pre-order it from shop.bohemians.ie and directly from Dalymount Park at tomorrow’s Uefa Youth League game against FC Midtjylland and Friday’s final league game of the season against Dundalk.

Comedian PJ Gallagher helped launched the jersey and said: “I love the new Bohs jersey. It’s a great design and it’s always great to see Dublin’s best club find new ways to celebrate their history and that of the Home of Irish Football. To be honest I was hoping for a Johnny Logan jersey but maybe that’ll be next season. What’s another year?”
