Bernardo gives blunt four-word response after Ødegaard accused him of tackle that ‘doesn’t belong in football’

Bernardo Silva and the Arsenal captain have become embroiled in a war of words after tensions boiled over during the Nations League clash between Norway and Portugal.

The Norway and Arsenal captain appeared to be kicked by Silva, now of Real Madrid, after Odegaard had already passed the ball to a teammate .

Odegaard appeared to be less than best pleased with Silva after the incident, and can be seen appearing to vent his fury in the above clip.

Speaking to Norwegian outlet TV2 after full time, in an interview quoted here by The Mirror, Odegaard is reported to have said: "It doesn't belong on a football field. It's a shame that people do that."

"It's a head fog from him. [He] just kicks me down long after I've played the ball away. I don't understand what he's doing."

Bernardo Silva has since responded to Odegaard's interview.

Asked about the tackle, and the Arsenal man's emotional response, Silva simply replied: "It's football my friend."

Although no formal scans have yet taken place, the player is confident that it may just be a knock to his ankle rather than anything more serious.

The game ended 2-1 to Portugal, with strikes from Joao Felix and Goncalo Ramos enough to see off the northern Europeans.
