RB Salzburg jokingly tell Man United they want expensive part-ex for Benjamin Sesko

Red Bull Salzburg have joked that they will only be prepared to let Benjamin Sesko join Manchester United if they receive a lucrative part-exchange offer from Old Trafford. United are believed to be looking to buy a new striker before the close of the transfer window, with the teenage Slovenian thought to be under consideration by Erik ten Hag. Still only 19, Sesko's form for the Austrian club has seen some make comparisons with Erling Haaland, who also played for them before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2020. United are one of several clubs believed to be keeping tabs on his progress, as was reported on Monday. Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano was amongst those to mention United's interest on Twitter, with his tweet quickly picked up by Red Bull Salzburg. They are still believed to be pursuing a deal for Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong, which appears complicated. Erik ten Hag was believed to be interested in signing a new striker before it emerged Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to leave the club. Ronaldo was given permission by United to miss the club's preseason tour of Thailand and Australia earlier this month due to family reasons. He is expected to return on Tuesday to hold discussions over his future with Ten Hag. The 37-year-old is keen to play Champions League football in the coming season, something which United cannot offer him. Despite being linked with Chelsea and Bayern Munich, both clubs have distanced themselves from making a move. Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone does appear open to signing him, but Ronaldo's association with Real Madrid has seen supporters of the club take to social media to express their opposition to a potential move for him.
