If there's one thing football fans hate, it's feeling like they are not respected by those at the top. There are many ways of offending fans in this way, one of the most effective being to refer to a team from a two-club city as just the name of the city.

Whatever the reason behind the gaffe, anger among fans is understandable and definitely the sort of thing that would not happen if it were in reference to a Premier League side.
