Barcelona want Glen Johnson but we’re not sure why

"No mate, honestly..."

Barcelona have been linked with a dramatic swoop for Liverpool’s out of favour defender Glen Johnson. Yes, that Glen Johnson.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the Catalan club are seriously considering Johnson as a viable replacement for outward bound Dani Alves. Presumably as a fashion icon rather than an actual footballer.

The bit we get is that the 30-year-old was offered to the La Liga outfit by the player’s representatives. Johnson is out of contract at the end of the season and Liverpool are showing no signs of offering him a new one.

What’s a little harder to comprehend is that Barca didn’t scoff at the mere suggestion but rather are giving the idea serious consideration. And before you ask there is no Catalan equivalent of April 1st.

In the meantime, Johnson has been inundated with offers from Liverpool supporters who would be only too happy to drive him to the Camp Nou themselves.
