Barcelona release statement confirming Neymar has paid his buyout clause

It seems imminent

Simon Lloyd

Barcelona have confirmed that Neymar has paid his £200m buyout clause ahead of his move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazil international’s legal representatives paid the sum on his behalf – as La Liga rules stipulate that players must buy themselves out of contracts.

According to some reports, the player will now be presented as a PSG player on Friday.

The full statement from Barcelona reads:

‘On Thursday afternoon Neymar Jr’s legal representatives visited in person the Club’s offices and made the payment of 222 million euros in the player’s name with regards to the unilateral termination of the contract that united both parties.

As such, the Club will pass on to UEFA the details of the above operation so that they can determine the disciplinary responsibilities that may arise from this case.’

Neymar is set to earn a weekly wage of £775,477 in the French capital – over £40m a year.
