Barcelona complete signing of Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund

Barca appear set to part with a huge chunk of their Neymar money

A few weeks on from parting company with Neymar, Barcelona look set to part with a sizeable chunk of the fee they received from Paris Saint-Germain for the Brazilian.

Barca have completed a €105m (£96.8m) deal with Borussia Dortmund for French international Ousmane Dembele – although the BBC report that add-ons in the deal could see the price rise to £150m.

Although the initial amount is not even half of what Barca received for Neymar earlier this summer, it still comfortably beats the previous world record transfer fee (£89m) that Manchester United paid to bring Paul Pogba back from Juventus a year ago.

Dembele, 20, only arrived at Dortmund last summer. Despite reported interest from several Premier League clubs at the time, the Bundesliga club were able to sign the forward from Rennes for a fee of just over £13m. Assuming there were no sell-on clauses agreed with Rennes, Dortmund have made a profit of almost £84m on the player after just one season in Germany.

As well as their big money move for Dembele, Barca have had two bids knocked back for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho. Although the player is keen on a move to Spain, Liverpool insist that any further offers for the Brazilian will also be rejected.
