Bad dog causes Boxing Day football match to be abandoned

Don't try and defend him. He's not a good boy. In fact he's an extremely bad doggo who ruined it for everyone.

JOE

He should be ashamed of himself. What a bad dog.

Picture the scene. It’s Boxing Day, everyone involved is looking forward to the traditional post-turkey festive fixture in the football calendar, and the whole occasion is ruined by a reckless pitch invader with a huge grin on their face – with not an ounce of consideration for anyone else. That’s exactly what happened on Saturday afternoon. Matchday completely and utterly ruined.

Leicester Nirvana had travelled to local rivals GNG Oadby Town in the United Counties League to honour their Boxing Day fixture in spite of obvious logistical considerations, and indeed were leading a fiercely competitive game 2-1 with less than 10 minutes on the clock. Three points were all but in the bag. But then, a selfish trouble-making Alsatian decided to ruin it for everyone.

The bad dog, whose identity has been protected, started jumping and barking at players and generally being the very opposite of a good boy. According to BBC Sport, the perpetrator’s human refused (or was unable) to control the over-excited canine, and so the matchday official had little option but to abandon the game. Thanks a bunch, you big daft hound.
