Arsenal fans respond to Huddersfield chant with the worst comeback ever

Wayne Farry

At least they tried

Arsene Wenger has endured a difficult final campaign at Arsenal. His team have embarked upon a record-breaking series of away games without gaining a point, while also seeing his hopes for a final trophy go up in smoke after being eliminated from the Europa League by Atletico Madrid.

All of those moments were little more than dressing however prior to today, when Wenger would have heard what is most likely the worst chant of his entire reign at the Gunners.

And amazingly, it was an act of Arsenal fan mortification which wasn’t directly led by Arsenal Fan TV.

It started with Huddersfield fans accusing them of hypocrisy over their farewell to Arsene Wenger:

“You wanted him out, you wanted him out, you two-faced bastards, you wanted him out.”

The Arsenal fans decided to search deep within themselves for the most embarrassingly bad comeback they could possibly think of, and boy howdy did they find it:

“Herbert Chapman, he left ‘cos you’re shit.”

Quite who the Arsenal fans were trying to offend – aside from everyone who had their ears graced with it – remains to be seen.

As much as their historical knowledge is appreciated, one cannot help but think that all Huddersfield fans who were annoyed about Chapman’s departure in 1925 are now deceased or, at the very least, quite close to being so.
