Anthony Joshua references Deontay Wilder’s disgusting remarks in post-fight press conference

"I want a body on my record."

If Deontay Wilder’s goal was to make Anthony Joshua afraid of him, he didn’t quite accomplish it.

Wilder has found himself the subject of much criticism for his comments earlier this week in relation to deaths in boxing.

The WBC heavyweight champion is set to be investigated after claiming that he hopes to kill one of his opponents in the ring.

During an interview on The Breakfast Club, Wilder was asked about sympathy in the fight game and whether he was concerned about the possibility of an opponent not waking up.

His response was disturbing:

“I want a body on my record. I want one. I really do. That’s the ‘Bronze Bomber’. He wants one. I always tell people that when I’m in the ring then I’m the ‘Bronze Bomber’ and with him, it’s so crazy, I don’t really care. Everything about me changes. I don’t get nervous. I don’t get scared. I don’t get butterflies. I don’t have any feeling towards the other man in the fight.”

Wilder might be next up for Anthony Joshua, who added the WBO title to his collection which already included the WBA, IBF and IBO belts.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ was identified as one of two opponents that Joshua would like to face next, along with Tyson Fury, and ‘AJ’ laughed off Wilder’s horrific comments in Saturday night’s post-fight press conference.

“I’m sure my mum will be happy that I’m alright – I’m not dead,” Joshua said.

“You can die in the ring, innit? That’s what Wilder says anyway!”
