Andy Carroll is set for a surprise move to the fourth tier of French football.
The former England international has had a long and journeyed career, playing for 10 different clubs, including the likes of Liverpool, West Ham and Newcastle.
Now 35-years-old, the target man has began dropping down the leagues as he slows down his career.
His most recent move saw the striker swap England for France, playing abroad for the first time in his career at Amiens in Ligue 2.
However, now it would appear Carroll is set to drop down the French divisions even further having reportedly agreed to join financially troubled Bordeaux.
The news was broke by French outlet L'Équipe who believe the player is finalising the last details in his contract with the club.
Carroll's contract expired at Amiens at the end of the season, leaving him a free agent.
Bordeaux were forced to relinquish their professional licence at the end of the 2023/24 season, after falling into liquidation.
In order to not completely fold, the club accepted relegation to the fourth tier of French football, where a professional licence was not required, but lost many players in doing so.
The club, which have enjoyed players such as Eric Cantona and Zinedine Zidane, are looking to slowly rebuild to the top of French football again.
Despite being one of France's most successful clubs, difficulties with foreign owners and investment led to the sad decline of the French giant.
The club will hope the signing of Andy Carroll will bring a high profile player through the door at Les Girondins.
