Amir Khan lost a lot of weight during I’m a Celeb stint

He's much lighter than normal

Amir Khan’s hope that his spell on the most recent series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! would act as something of a detox for him looks to have worked a treat.

The fighter spent the best part of three weeks in the jungle and he’s admitted that even he was surprised by how much weight he lost.

Prior to his fight against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez last year, which ended in one of the most brutal knockouts of the decade, Khan revealed that he typically walks “around at probably 160lbs-plus” but he was more than a stone lighter after his stint on the reality show.

“I walked out of the jungle at 145lbs so I want to get back up to like 160lbs before I get back down to 147 lbs before I come back down to fight,” Khan told Ring IQ TV in Dubai.

“147lbs is the division I’m in. Walking out of the jungle kind of surprised me at 145lbs, walking around at the weight.

“So I want to put more weight on because my training is so intense you lose weight anyway.”

Khan has recently claimed that he’s aiming for a return to the ring next March in the UK, with an opponent yet to be named.

The 31-year-old restarted his rivalry with Manny Pacquiao with a social media post directed at the Filipino fighter last week but there’s no chance that we’re going to see Pacquiao vs. Khan next as ‘King’ is looking at a warm-up fight in which he can shake off any ring rust that might have accumulated since last May.

“It’s concrete (my comeback) early next year,” Khan said. “I’m definitely fighting before Ramadan. That’s the first move we’re going to do.

“I’m taking a tune up fight next because obviously I’ve not fought so hopefully get that tune up fight out-of-the-way and go back to a big fight.”
