Given Alexis Sanchzez’s competitive nature, he will be raging that he’s not taking part in the World Cup.

The Chilean forward has had to watch the goings-on in Russia from home but he’s certainly enjoying watching his Manchester United teammates’ exploits in the tournament.

Sanchez’s Chile side failed to qualify for the World Cup after coming up short in the South American Fifa World Cup qualifiers (CONMEBOL) but he’s thrown his backing behind one club colleague he wants to see triumph this summer.

Sanchez has the likes of Paul Pogba, David de Gea, Victor Lindelof and several English teammates still to root for in Russia but he clearly has a terrific relationship with centre-forward Romelu Lukaku as he’s admitted that he also wants to see the Belgium front man finish as top scorer.

Speaking to Fox Sports, Sanchez said: “I want Belgium to win the World Cup, for my friend Lukaku.

“We’re very close friends, we always talk and go out for dinner in England. We have a great friendship. We talk about the team a lot to be able to improve it.

“He’s sharp, he’s on fire and I hope he wins the Golden Boot.”

Lukaku currently finds himself behind only England’s Harry Kane in the goalscoring stakes, having already netted two braces in the group stages.
