Anyone watching West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City will have seen midfielder Alex Song back to his best.

The former Arsenal man was named as the sponsors’ Man of the Match after putting in arguably his best performance since the two sides met early last season.

And it’s even more impressive seeing as it has since emerged that Song was unable to see for part of the match.

The on-loan Barcelona man has been wearing protective goggles since suffering an eye injury in training, despite the fact that his vision has been impeded while wearing them.

According to The Times, Song took off the glasses during the game against doctor’s orders – he did the same thing during West Ham’s FA Cup win against Wolves earlier in the month.

He has been warned against the possibility of further infection on an injury suffered in a freak training ground clash with team-mate Angelo Ogbonna, but Song is nothing if not a risk-taker.
