Alan Shearer takes the piss out of Jose Mourinho before the Game 4 Grenfell

That's actually a big compliment, Al

That’s actually a very big compliment, Al.

The Game 4 Grenfell took place on Saturday afternoon at Loftus Road in London. The charity game, featuring current and former professional footballers and stars from the world of entertainment, was organised to raise funds for those affected by the tragic blaze, in which at least 80 people died on June 14.

The two teams were managed by Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand, and Jose Mourinho was part of Shearer’s squad for the game at Queen’s Park Rangers’ stadium.

The Manchester United manager was subjected to some old fashioned dressing room banter before the match kicked off. Shearer, when addressing his team, took the opportunity to take the piss out of Jose. However, it was actually a very big compliment.

“Have a bit of fun, there’s a bit of seriousness to it, but last night we got some huge names,” Shearer said.

“Last night, when I heard the greatest manager ever was coming to join us, I’ve got to apologise Sir Alex (Ferguson) isn’t here, but we’ve got the second greatest manager ever in Jose.”

Ferguson is 75 and has had a hip replacement, so getting Mourinho ahead of him was a good call by Shearer. The team laughed and Jose took the joke well. Which isn’t surprising, as he has just been called the second best manager ever. That’s some compliment.
