Adrien Broner gives controversial post-fight interview after loss to Manny Pacquiao via unanimous decision

Fight fans have called him “deluded” and “unhinged”

On Saturday night, Manny Pacquiao retained his WBA welterweight title after beating Adrien Broner via unanimous decision.

In his 70th professional, Pacquaio outclassed the American, landing 47 body shots to Broner’s measly three.

The judges scored it 117-111, 116-112, 116-112 to the 40-year-old Filipino.

There’s one person though who didn’t think it was that clear cut – and that man’s name is Adrien Broner.

In his post-match interview, he went on a spectacular rant, say that he clearly won, and implying that the result was a fix to set up another Manny Pacquaio – Floyd Mayweather fight.

“I beat him, everybody out there knows I beat him!” screamed Broner

“Everybody out there knows I beat him, I controlled the fight, he was missing, I hit him plenty more times. I beat him.”

“Let me talk something… I want to thank the whole hood who came out here. I love y’all. I did this for the hood, you know I beat that boy.”

“They trying to get that money again with Pacquiao and Floyd but it’s cool, I ain’t worried about it I’m still that n*****, man. I’m on top Cincinnati stand up, westside. Two-five.”

Showtime interviewer Jim Gray was not particularly impressed with Broner’comments, pointing out that how few punches he landed. Broner did not take this well.

“It already sounds like you were against me so I haven’t got a fair shake talking to you.”

“I’m 3-3-1 in my last 7 fights but I’d be 7-0 against you.”

Jim Gray is a 60-year-old sports presenter and not a trained athlete, so that’s not much of a boast.

Broner’s interview was much mocked on social media, with people calling him “completely deluded” and “unhinged”.

After the fight, Pacquaio said he would be open to a rematch against Floyd Mayweather.

“Tell (Floyd) to come back to the ring and then we will fight,” Pacquiao says. “I’m willing to fight him again, to fight Floyd Mayweather.”
