I don’t know whether you’ve noticed, but retro kits are in fashion. It’s now socially acceptable to wear a football shirt out and about with jeans for people above the age of 11 and I, for one, am here for it.
You will have seen the series of retro shirts that Adidas have brought out in tribute to some of the most gorgeous jerseys from yesteryear, and the new kits to be worn this summer which combine the old and the new. But you ain’t seen nothing yet.
They’ve taken it one step further and made some mash up kits, combining one half of one shirt and the other half of another. The results are… mixed. One thing’s for sure; even though everyone will be wearing a football jersey this summer, if you wear one of these you’ll stick out like a sore thumb.
The good folk at footyheadlines.com have released images of the collection, of which only the Argentina and Russia shirts are up for sale on the Adidas website.
This Argentina shirt merges the home and away shirts worn during the Copa America in 1993.

Really not sure how to feel about this upside down 1, to be honest. What’s the need?
This Germany kit feels like an iconic design being tarnished by a massive splash of unnecessary green. And much like the Colombia shirt, the back is a monstrosity.
