Raheem Sterling’s departure to Manchester City left a bad taste in the mouth for many a Liverpool supporter.

Having featured in City’s League Cup victory over his former club on Sunday, Sterling was reportedly man-handled by angry Liverpool fans.

The incident took place as Sterling made his way to a special function for the City players.

Having been booed throughout the game by Liverpool supporters, Sterling felt an arm on his shoulders, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Witnesses claim the England international was “yanked” by the supporter, who said “You f**king Judas!”

Sterling had been booed throughout the game by the 30,000 Liverpool fans, furious at his £49million move to the Etihad Stadium in the summer.

But that turned into a physical confrontation as Sterling prepared to enter one of the Wembley lounges to attend an official 15-minute function with club partners and staff following the game.

Feeling an arm around his shoulders, Sterling expected a friendly City fan or team-mate, but witnesses said that the arm then “yanked” him before the fan said “You ****ing Judas!” to the England international’s face.

At that point, teammate Kevin De Bruyne and a security guard intervened and the pair were separated.
