The champions are ready to shift a number of under-performing players to fund a summer splurge, with Edin Dzeko, Samir Nasri, Yaya Toure and Stevan Jovetic all thought to be on the unwanted list.
Meanwhile, City also want Pep Guardiola - who has one year left on his Bayern Munich contract - to replace the outgoing Manuel Pellegrini.
Liverpool keen on Walcott
Should Sterling leave for one of his many suitors, Liverpool may try and replace the winger with Theo Walcott.
