Sheffield’s Mayor calls Donald Trump a wasteman and bans him from the city

Mayor of Sheffield Magid Magid has banned Donald Trump from the city and also called the American president a wasteman. The politician simultaneously declared a day of solidarity with the people of Mexico for July 13 - the day of Trump's UK visit. Magid said he had five reasons "of thousands" for the travel ban, citing Donald Trump's own as "racist." As well as the President's decisions to withdraw from the Paris climate accord, move the American embassy to Jerusalem, imprisoning children on the country's borders and being sympathetic to "white supremacists." https://twitter.com/MagicMagid/status/1014494400532148225 Magid is the youngest Lord Mayor in Sheffield’s history and the first to come from the Green Party. He moved to Yorkshire from Somalia at the age of five. He's also the first to swear during an inaugural speech, after thanking his mum "for putting up with all the shit" he'd put her through. Adding, "I hope by the fact I am a black, Muslim immigrant – everything the Daily Mail probably hates – people will look and say 'In Sheffield we’re proud of doing things differently and celebrating our differences.'" Magid told JOE: "In this current climate of politics where fear and hate is widespread, the last thing we need is a world leader like Donald J Trump being a spurting cesspit of hate, stoking divisions between communities while scapegoating minorities.

"I am proud to be the Lord Mayor of a city where there is an amazingly culture of diversity. Where we don’t tolerate racism and xenophobia; where we not only celebrate all our differences but also unite on the things we have in common.

"We need now more than ever to come together in spite of our differences and empower everyone in our society and collectively work towards building a future where love and tolerance prevail, and where everybody belongs."
