Reform have been involved in an embarrassing gaffe during campaigning for the Holborn and St Pancras by-election after the party managed to spell its name wrong on a letter.
Today (October 8), voters are going to the polls in the North London seat to decide who will succeed Keir Starmer as their MP.
The vote is expected to be a two-horse race between Labour candidate Sagal Abdi-Wali and Green Party leader Zack Polanski.
Despite being second in the national polls, Reform will pose little threat to the two left-wing parties in Holborn and St Pancras, and if the carelessness shown in a campaign letter is anything to go by, then it suggests they know this.
As reported by the Metro, a letter circulated by Reform candidate Pete Newman to constituents just days before the by-election shows the party’s name written as ‘Refrom UK.’
In the letter, Newman laid out how he would up police presence on the streets and keep police stations open.
Perhaps in an effort to distance himself from Farage’s party in such an anti-Reform area, Newman makes no reference to Reform in the body of the letter.
However, at the bottom, the party name does appear – where it is spelt incorrectly.
The gaffe was noticed by a Camden resident, who told the Metro: “I think it’s so embarrassing for Reform that they can’t even spell their own name.
“I was reading through the letter trying to work out who sent it and it’s the only mention of the party on the entire thing.
“Reform clearly don’t have a chance in Holborn and St Pancras. It was a slapdash leaflet that they didn’t even proofread. It’s sloppy campaigning.”
