This lightweight, ergonomic and durable piece of kit – nicknamed the “Ideal Conceal” – looks just like a smartphone and can slip easily into your pocket.
The Ideal Conceal is a carefully engineered double-barreled .38 caliber, but if you want to get your hands on one, you’re going to need a green card, as only US arms stockists can legally sell the new equipment.
“Ingeniously designed to resemble a smartphone, yet with one click of the safety it opens and is ready to fire,” says the company website. “Smartphones are everywhere, so your new pistol will easily blend in with today’s environment. In its locked position it will be virtually undetectable because it hides in plain sight.”
Of course, cheaper concealed weapons means more inevitable gun drama in the US. Bill Johnson, executive director and general counsel for the National Association of Police Organisations, recently gave his comments on the gun:
“In general, the concept of any kind of weapon that’s disguised, so that it’s not apparent that it’s a weapon, would be cause for concern.”
