World’s longest hangover lasted four weeks after man drank 60 pints

A man was left with with the world's longest known hangover after drinking 60 pints

He had no previous history of health issues, or took any medications or had any head injuries.

When doctors took a look at the hungover bloke, they found not much to be wrong.

He was 'fully alert', had a normal CT scan and ordinary blood pressure and body temperature, per UNILAD.

Despite this, a spinal tap revealed something scary - he had a notable buildup of pressure around his brain.

A further blood test revealed that he was actually suffering from a rare auto-immune disease called lupus anticoagulant syndrome. This condition means his antibodies 'mistakenly attack healthy cells,' per Cleveland Clinic.

After seeing an eye specialist, the patient was found to have bleeding nerve fibres and swollen optics.

This rather terrifying sounding diagnosis was put down to his alcohol consumption by the eye specialist.

He reportedly admitted to having been drinking continuously for several days prior, which was brought about due to a 'domestic crisis'.

The headache and blurry eyesight lasted for a whopping six months.

Doctors treated his condition by prescribing him anticoagulants over the long-term, so that by July 2007 he was finally recovered.
