A woman who went missing more than five decades ago has been found thanks to a blurry photo, according to police.
West Midlands Police say they have found Sheila Fox after she went missing in 1972 by releasing the blurry photo. They also say this closes the case on one of the longest-running missing persons cases on file.
Towards the end of December police published a renewed appeal for information to help find Ms Fox, and they heard back within just hours.
The photo was a new discovery by officers, which is why it was only used in the latest appeal for information.
Officers have spoken with Ms Fox and have confirmed she is alive and well, and now living in another part of the country.
Detective Sergeant Jenna Shaw, from the Cold Case Investigation Team, said: "We're absolutely delighted to have found Sheila after more than five decades.
"We searched through every piece of evidence we could find and managed to locate a photo of Sheila.
"We are a small team of officers and I'd like to recognise the work of DC Shaun Reeve, who managed to resolve this case with help from the public.
"Every missing person has a story, and their families and friends deserve to know what happened to them and, hopefully, be reunited with them."
