‘They’re just kids!’
Royal fans on social media are debating whether the Cambridge kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, looked bored at last night’s Platinum Party at the Palace.
While the Queen wasn’t in attendance at last night’s Jubilee spectacular due to ongoing mobility issues, the star-studded concert was a colourful success, featuring appearances from Queen and Adam Lambert, Rod Stewart and even Paddington Bear who stopped by for tea and marmalade sandwiches at Buckingham Palace.
As the celebrations got into gear, Prince William and Kate Middleton sat next to their eight-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter and watched the action play out live from the royal box.
However when the BBC‘s coverage of the event panned to the young royals, some believe they looked a little bored as the night wore on – with some pointing to the long day they’d had supporting their parents on a royal visit to Wales. A few criticised the BBC for showcasing those moments.
The pressure and scrutiny that these children are under. They’re just kids! #HM70 #PlatinumJubilee #PlatinumParty #PrinceGeorge #PrincessCharlotte https://t.co/R0ClOO7hS1

“The pressure and scrutiny these children are under,” wrote showbiz blogger Perez Hilton. “They’re just kids!”
However others were quick to sympathise with the pint-sized royals, highlighting the fact that their age and hectic schedule may have been to blame for any end-of-the-day fatigue.
Everyone saying Prince George and Princess Charlotte are "bored". They were in Cardiff mere hours ago – they've had a busy day! At their age I'd have been zonked out my seat! #PlatinumPartyatthePalace

Prince George and Princess Charlotte look bored to tears. Where are their iPads?

In fact, some felt that, had they been in the same situation at their age, they would’ve acted exactly the same – with people online even seeming to empathise with the Prince and Princess.
Princess Charlotte’s face while watching this absolutely stellar lineup of all time greats of music is hilarious 😂 (though at her age I would’ve been bored out of my mind too)

Like them little kids really wanna sit through half of this. Most of this lot had their hay day before I was born and I’m 30 this year. No wonder Prince George looks bored as sin 🤦🏻♀️ #PlatinumPartyatthePalace

That said, later in the evening the duo could be seen enjoying themselves and waving flags during the event’s many musical acts.
What’s more, both young royals particularly enjoyed the moment where their great grandmother pulled out a marmalade sandwich from her handbag during her surprise meeting with Paddington Bear.
