Parts of the United Kingdom could be hit with snow within days as some areas experience temperatures 10 degrees lower than they were just one week ago.

Rain has been affecting parts of the Midlands so far this week but as temperatures drop this could be set to turn to snow, according to Birmingham Live.

The Met Office’s Aidan McGivern has warned: “With Atlantic weather now in charge, we can expect very changeable weather through the week.

“There’ll be wind and rain, but also showery and sunnier periods at times.”

Meteorological expert Dave King A.K.A Dave The Weatherman told ITV’s This Morning last week: “There’s a snow moon on the 29th of October, followed by two more snow moons in the first three weeks of November.

“So it is gonna be bitterly cold and very frosty.”

He added that this was “bad news for people with gas and electric because your bills are going through the roof.”

At the moment, the Met Office forecast up until October 7 warns that the drop in temperature will “bring showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times, to many areas.”

It continues: “Strong winds are also likely, particularly along coasts. As this area of low pressure moves away another is likely to move to the north of the UK. This will bring further showers or longer spells of rain to the north and northwest, along with the potential for strong winds.”

The Met Office goes on to predict a “north-south split” when looking further ahead up to October 27, saying that low pressure and wet weather will remain in the north while the south will experience drier conditions.”

Just last week, temperatures in parts of the south of England reached the high 20s. This week though it is thought that the warmest temperature anywhere in the country won’t go beyond 18C.

Eastern England and eastern Scotland are being warned to expect up to 25mm of rainfall a day over the coming days as well.
