Part of the Tower of London has closed after custard and apple crumble was thrown at a case containing part of the crown jewels.
Activists from Take Back Power claim they threw the dessert on a case which contains the Imperial State Crown, which makes up part of the priceless collection.
The Tower of London was closed following the incident, with police now saying only the Jewel House remains closed.
Police say they were called to the scene shortly after 10am on Saturday, and that they have arrested four people after the incident.
"Police were called at 09:48hrs on Saturday, 6 December to the Tower of London following reports of criminal damage to a display case, containing the State Crown.
"It was reported that four protesters threw suspected food onto the case before two left the scene," police said.
"Officers worked closely with City of London Police and security officers and four people have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
"They have taken into custody. The Tower has been closed to the public while the police investigation continues."
Take Back Power say they are responsible for the incident.
In a post on social media, they wrote: "Democracy has crumbled. Billionaires buy political influence whilst homeless people die on the streets.
"We need a House of the People to tax the rich."
They describe themselves as a new ‘civil disobedience group’.
