The idea of perfectly recreating the Titanic - all the way down to the dinner menus! - and then perfectly following the exact same route as the original seems... like an idea that should have been let go of. According to Bloomberg, the Titanic II will take off from Dubai, before heading to Southampton, where it will then make its way to New York, following the same path as the original did 106 years ago. 2022 is the aimed for date of departure, with the Blue Star Line dropping $500,000,000 to get the ship just right. It is said to be able to carry 2,400 passengers and 900 staff, and it should take about six to eight days to complete the cross-Atlantic journey. Of course, the real questions are just how exact they were when it came to the recreation? Have the engines and radars and stuff been updated? Is there still a steerage level where only the poorest of the poor can afford space? Is the ship still powered by buff dudes shovelling coal into the furnaces? Will the Heart Of The Ocean be aboard? And wouldn't it be easier to just do what Rick & Morty did and have a safer Titanic recreation experience? Although, thanks to global warming, icebergs are probably less of a threat than they were a century ago. So... y'know... silver linings...
