Three killed in early morning crash near Cardiff

The crash happened at around 4am on Southern Way in Llanedeyrn, Cardiff

Three men have died following a collision between a car and a lorry in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The men were travelling in a grey Ford Focus which is believed to have crashed into a lorry. They were taken to hospital after the crash where they then died.

Southern Way, where the accident took place, has since been closed in both directions by police.

This means one of the Welsh capital’s main roads will be shut for most of Sunday morning, the A4232 between Newport Road and the A48 Eastern Avenue.

The police are appealing for more information following the incident.

A police spokesperson said: ‘With regards to the appeal for information in relation to the road accident at Southern Way, Cardiff this morning, South Wales Police can now confirm that three men who were in the Ford Focus have sadly died.
