Theresa May’s public persona is one of strength. Strength and stability. Stability, and also strength.
But if strength and stability were the only qualities that a person possessed then you might well have been mistakenly talking to an iron girder.
As much as we need a leader who can get things done, we also want a human being at the head of our government.
And so, a quick-fire Q&A in the Sunday Times would have been the perfect opportunity for the Prime Minister to show her human side. Unfortunately, her answers betrayed a deeply boring individual.

First of all, May is routinely criticised for dodging questions in Prime Minister’s Questions every Wednesday in Parliament, and it seems that the Sunday Times is no different.
It’s hard to pick which of the dodged questions has resulted in the most boring; perhaps “Depends on the circumstances” when asked whether she prefers whisky or wine.
You could answer virtually any question with that response; very few things do not depend on the circumstances.
Secondly, and no offence to rugby fans, but you have the question the judgement of someone in Britain who openly advocates anything over football, rugby or otherwise.
Or maybe she’s trying a radical new technique in politics: trying not to look like an everyman. Which team was it that David Cameron supported again? West Aston United?
And lastly, while no one doubts that there’s not much call for takeaways in Number 10, is she really saying she never gets a curry in on a late night?
