Her Majesty made an unscheduled appearance as the four-day jubilee weekend came to a close

The Queen has officially made an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony as the four day Platinum Jubilee weekend comes to a close.

Queen Elizabeth II smiled and waved to thousands of cheering fans during a brief appearance, with Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis stood alongside her.

Having travelled to Buckingham Palace from Windsor, it was not confirmed as to whether the 96-year-old monarch would make an appearance during today’s colourful Platinum pageant. However when The Royal Standard flag appeared towards the end of the celebrations, her appearance became a possibility.

After a few moments of waving, the national anthem was played before the Queen headed back inside Buckingham palace.

Throughout the day, 10,000 people – including 6000 performers took part in a vibrant parade that celebrated the Queen’s 70 year reign.

Meanwhile, yesterday saw HRH appear alongside Paddington Bear in a short sketch that aired before a musical performance by Queen during Saturday’s Jubilee concert.

Joining Her Majesty for a tea party, Paddington proceeded to remove a marmalade sandwich from his hat before the Queen one-upped him by revealing that she carries one with her too – inside her handbag.
