Stag do groom stopped by police after friends made him wear Just Stop Oil t-shirt

The perfect prank for a 2023 stag do

A group of mates came up with a creative stag do prank by making the stag wear a Just Stop Oil t-shirt to the British Grand Prix.

The climate activist group have hit the headlines on several occasions this year by protesting at major sporting events such as the Ashes, Wimbledon and the World Snooker Championship.

Because of this, police and security at events are trying to be pretty alert to any potential protests, in an attempt to nip them in the bud before they happen.

And there was plenty of uncertainty over whether they would manage to disrupt proceedings at the 2023 British Grand Prix, particularly after they managed to make their way onto the track at last year’s race.

One man who wasn’t part of any of their plans though, despite appearances, was this guy.

Instead, he was the victim of the perfect joke for 2023, when his mates decided he should wear a Just Stop Oil t-shirt on his stag do at Silverstone.

And, as you might imagine, the inevitable happened and he was spoken to by police who were wary of his fashion choices.

A picture of the amusing moment eventually made its way onto Twitter, with the caption: “British Grand Prix today, it’s this bloke’s stag and his mates have made him wear this, keeps getting stopped by the police.”

The group themselves have responded to the imaginative prank as well.

In the end, Just Stop Oil steered clear of Silverstone this year, although they still managed to get plenty of attention, including from British F1 legend Lewis Hamilton.

When asked if he would support any peaceful protest from the group, he said:

“Yes. I support peaceful protests.”

He then added: “From my perspective, and my team’s perspective, we are focused on sustainability and we believe in what people [the protesters] are fighting for and we are making those changes as a sport,

“But safety is key We don’t want to put them in harm’s way and we don’t want to put anyone else in harm’s way.

“If there was to be one [a protest] we hope it is not on track.

“I’ll always support those standing up for what they believe in, it must be done safely.”

Just Stop Oil demand that the UK government immediately put a halt to all new oil and gas licenses, believing this goes against efforts to battle climate change and global warming.
