Snoop Dogg has shocked the internet with his announcement that he is 'giving up smoke' after having discussions with his family.
The rapper, 52, has allegedly been known to smoke up to 150 joints a day.
Snoop, real name is Calvin Broadus, made the announcement on social media yesterday (November 16), causing widespread shock.
Snoop is known for a long rap career starting from the early 90s into the present day, and has also starred in film and TV.
But to a younger generation, he is perhaps best known for his prolific blunt smoking.
Posting to X, Snoop wrote:
"I'm giving up smoke. After much consideration & conversation with my family, I've decided to give up smoke.
"Please respect my privacy at this time."
Despite the serious tone of the post, many fans thought it was a joke, with one saying 'this isn't April Fools Day Snoop'.
However, others were quick to support his decision, and shared their own struggles with marijuana use over the years.
One follower said, per Sky News: "I had a pulmonary embolism last year and had to give up smoking as well; so more edibles for Edible Dee it is; but I know how hard this transition is especially for someone like you. Take all the time you need."
Snoop has attempted sobriety from weed before, back in 2002, but he relapsed not long after.
