They’ve been together since 2014
Sir Mick Jagger and his partner Melanie Hamrick have reportedly got engaged.
The 79-year-old music legend has been in a relationship with the 36-year-old choreographer since 2014, with the couple welcoming a son Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger two years later.
According to reports though, the pair have decided to take the next step in their relationship.
It comes after Hamrick was seen wearing a ring on her engagement finger, which she had previously said was a “promise ring.”
But she has reportedly since told her friends and family that she is engaged to Jagger.
According to a source, Hamrick told friends during a trip to the American Ballet Theatre in New York that she “was engaged to Mick.”
The source told The Mirror: “She was very clear her ring is an engagement ring and she is now his fiancée. Her family also very much understand them to be engaged and are thrilled.”
Addressing the ring last month, Hamrick told People that she “had to giggle” when the Rolling Stones frontman gave her the ring.
“I mean, I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes,” she told the publication.
“But are we like, horny teenagers where we’re giving each other… In my mind, it’s a promise ring. We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring.”
When she was asked about if she would ever get married, the former ballerina said: “I don’t know. I’m kind of like, a live-in-the-moment type of person, so who knows.”
Jagger and Hamrick started their relationship in 2014, following the death of fashion designer L’Wren Scott that same year. She had been in a relationship with Jagger from 2001.
Along with his son Deveraux, the 79-year-old has a seven other children.
