Veteran actor Powers Boothe has passed away at the age of 68, his publicist said.
While rarely a leading man, Boothe was a great character actor who had an incredible 40 year career, appearing classic films and shows like Con Air, The Avengers and 24, and even video games like Hitman: Absolution.
Known for often playing tough guys and villains, he won an Emmy for playing cult leader Jim Jones in the miniseries Guyana Tragedy, and starred as iconic noir detective Philip Marlowe in the HBO series of the same name.
For modern audiences though, he was probably best known as the evil, manipulating Senator Roark in Sin City and its sequel, bar owner Cy Tolliver in Deadwood and for continuing his Marvel Cinematic Universe role on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
