Scientists have discovered a galaxy on the edge of time that shouldn’t exist

We just never know what is out there.

A group of astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) spotted a galaxy that defies current cosmological models.

The galaxy named ZF-UDS-7329 is 13 billion years old and is larger than the Milky Way and challenges scientists' understanding of how dark matter created the early Universe.

According to The Secrets Of The Universe, the galaxy was observed "as it existed 11.5 billion years ago, thanks to the finite speed of light.

"The observations revealed that the galaxy is surprisingly mature and massive, containing about four times the stellar mass of the Milky Way."

The galaxy's stars are estimated to be around 1.5 billion years old.

ZF-UDS-7329's existence challenges the way that we thought dark matter shaped the Universe due to its sheer size.

Based on prior thinking, the early formation of the Universe should have contained only smooth dark matter with small ripples of distribution that later formed into smaller, more disordered galaxies.

According to Secrets Of The Universe: "Only later, after about one to two billion years, should these early protogalaxies have begun merging to form larger, more complex structures.

"The existence of ZF-UDS-7329 challenges this picture, as it is far too massive and mature to have formed so early in the Universe."
