Russia has turned down US President Donald Trumps peace deal with Ukraine.
Despite saying they gave the US proposals 'serious consideration', Russia have now issued a new set of demands.
The US proposal included an immediate and full 30-day stop of the fighting, as well as a partial ceasefire in the Black Sea.
A Russian diplomat was quoted by state media saying that the US must consider what it regards as the root causes of the conflict.
"We take the models and solutions proposed by the Americans very seriously, but we can't accept it all in its current form," said Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
"As far as we can see, there is no place in them today for our main demand, namely to solve the problems related to the root causes of this conflict,' he was cited as telling the magazine 'International Affairs.
"It is completely absent, and that must be overcome," he continued.
President Putin has previously ruled out a temporary break in hostilities, suggesting it would only benefit Ukraine, however he insisted that Moscow wants a comprehensive, long lasting agreement.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was blunt in his analysis of the rejection while addressing his country over the weekend.
"Moscow blatantly makes a mockery of our partners' efforts to advance a peace agenda," he said.
Both country's President's were scolded by President Trump on Sunday as he expressed his frustration at the ongoing war, which he pledged to halt shortly into his time in office.
The 78-year-old said he would consider putting pressure on Moscow through new oil sanctions, and insisted that progress was being made in the negotiations.
