The US proposal included an immediate and full 30-day stop of the fighting, as well as a partial ceasefire in the Black Sea.

"As far as we can see, there is no place in them today for our main demand, namely to solve the problems related to the root causes of this conflict,' he was cited as telling the magazine 'International Affairs.
"It is completely absent, and that must be overcome," he continued.
President Putin has previously ruled out a temporary break in hostilities, suggesting it would only benefit Ukraine, however he insisted that Moscow wants a comprehensive, long lasting agreement.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was blunt in his analysis of the rejection while addressing his country over the weekend.
"Moscow blatantly makes a mockery of our partners' efforts to advance a peace agenda," he said.
