At least two people have been killed and multiple injured after a nightclub shooting in Fort Myers, Western Florida.

It is believed that the shooting occurred early on Monday morning at Club Blu, a nightclub that was holding a “teen night” at the time.

It is feared that some of the people present at the night of the attack could have been as young at 13.

Lt. Jim Mulligan of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office was one of the officers at the scene, reporting that two people have been killed, while as many as 17 people have been injured.

According to Fort Myers’ local news station Wink News, eye witnesses heard “at least 30 gunshots” from the nightclub, allegedly coming from a number of weapons.

“Everyone tried to run and duck for cover. I’m sorry I’m so shaken up,” one eye witness wrote via Facebook.

One man, who had a close friend at Club Blu during the time of the shooting made note of the large amount of people trying to get inside the club after the incident

“I called and couldn’t get a hold of them, I rushed to Blu scared when I arrived I got one of them and he said that the shooter took off and the cops were chasing him, he wrote via Facebook.

“It was a mad house people were running every where. All people were saying was their friends’ names to see if they’re okay — a lot of phone calls to parents,” he wrote. “But it was one of the scariest sights to just see people come pouring out like that.”

Florida police are said to have detained one person and are working under the belief the shooting occurred largely in Club Blu’s car park.
