The Sandringham rental is going for £240 a night

The Queen has listed one of her properties for rent on Airbnb.

People looking for an opportunity to holiday like a Royal are in luck after the monarch put part of her Sandringham Estate on the short-term rental app for a casual £240 a night.

The four-bedroomed, two-bathroomed cottage has some dates free next month but is not available over the festive period when the monarch traditionally spends several weeks in the county.

According to the listing the property is child friendly, with over 200 hectares of country park to enjoy.

“Children will love all the free space to roam as well as the large adventure play area”, it notes, adding that guests will only be a short drive to the “stunning north Norfolk beaches, poppy-rich meadows, fields of lavender, quiet lanes ideal for walking and cycling plus many quintessential English villages, complete with pubs and duck ponds!”

Helen Millin, director of Norfolk Hideaways, said:

“Norfolk Hideaways were approached back in early 2019 by The Sandringham Estate and have been marketing their holiday let property, Garden House since.

“Previously marketed directly by the Sandringham Estate they chose Norfolk Hideaways to market the property due to our expert knowledge and experience as a local holiday let provider with a national reach.

“We work closely and discretely with all our home owners to deliver a comprehensive marketing strategy to maximise bookings and consideration for their property with guests both here in the UK and overseas. As a business we use a variety of portals and affiliates to support our marketing plans; Airbnb being one of many marketing channels which we incorporate within the overall marketing mix.”

It is not the first time the Queen has offered up her extra properties to holidaymakers.

Several cottages on the Balmoral estate are already available to rent through the estate’s own website.

The Balmoral website states that the “Colt Cottages are situated in close proximity to the Castle, near the Estates Office and Stables. Access is by the public road to Balmoral and thereafter by the private Estate road.”

There are two cottages, which are semi detached. They can be occupied separately or if required they can be used together by one large family.

The holiday homes have a three-star Scottish Tourist Board rating.
