Prince Harry is going to drastic measures to protect his new girlfriend

He's very worried about the behaviour of some elements of the media

Well this is certainly a weird honeymoon stage to be in.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have obviously been the centre of media attention over the past few weeks as their relationship was first speculated and then confirmed by a The Palace.

Now potential princess Meghan is being hounded by press in the UK and Prince Harry has decided that he is going to hire a retired Scotland Yard Personal Protection Officer to shadow Meghan.

According to The Evening Standard, Harry is haunted by the death of his mother while she was being pursued by French paparazzi.

A senior security for the Palace said:

“There have been initial discussions about this matter.”

“HRH has made it clear that he believes Miss Markle’s personal safety is paramount and that the behaviour of some elements of the media and press has been grossly unacceptable.”

“But in the end it comes down to a matter of cost, who is paying for what. Protecting the Royal Family is a hugely expensive business.”

Another source told the Evening Standard that the cost of protection would run high.

“Scotland Yard operates the Royal Diplomatic Department. It is an elite department of officers.”

“It is therefore not cheap to run and like anywhere in the publicly funded sector they have been subject to stringent Government funding cuts.”

The source further stated that Princess Beatrice and Eugenie must contribute to much of the cost of their protection and it is not solely a cost to the taxpayer.

“Of course the mainstream Royals – The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Cambridges’ and Prince Harry all still get 24/7 Protection provided by Scotland Yard and SO14,” said the source.

It would mean a significant cost to protect Her Majesty Meghan but it seems Harry is more than happy to oblige.

What a gentleman.
