People quite can’t get their head around Walkers’ new sandwich flavoured crisps

Cucumber flavoured sandwiches? Really?

Carl Anka

The crisp sarnie is a time honoured culinary tradition.

Take your favourite sandwich, chuck in some of your favourite crisps, get yourself a power snack while you’re on the go.

Easy, simple. We’re fans of cheese and onion in a ham sandwich ourselves.

But, in their continuing efforts to make our lives easier and get crisps everywhere, Walkers have now teamed up with the folk at Heinz to bring us a range of sandwich flavoured crips.

That’s right, the crisp sarnie has done a loop. Instead of sandwiches enhanced by crisp flavours, we now we have crisp enhanced by sandwich flavouring.

In a new range unveiled by Take Me Out presenter, Paddy McGuinness, Walkers showed off six new flavours, including:

  • Toasted Cheese and Worcester Sauce
  • Bacon and Ketchup
  • Cheese, Cucumber and Salad Cream
  • Roast Chicken and Mayonnaise
  • Ham and Mustard
  • Sausage and Brown Sauce

People were left… rather confused by the new culinary development

Especially by the cheese, cucumber and salad cream option.

The launch comes as part of Walkers’ on-pack promotion, ‘Go barmy for a sarnie’, where crisps buyers stand a chance of winning £10,000 every week for the next 11 weeks.

In addition, Walkers will also be opening a pop-up shop in London Bridge from September 8, where people visitors will be able to build their own crisps sandwiches, and do other “sandwich-themed activities”.

All rather exciting we reckon. Wonder the folk who rank Meal Deals think…
