Green party peer, Baroness Jones, has suggested that all men should have a curfew at 6pm.

She made this suggestion during on a debate on domestic violence in the House of Lords, following the disappearance of 33-year-old Sarah Everard.

She said: “In the week that the woman Sarah Everard was abducted, and we suppose killed, because remains have been found in a woodland in Kent, I would argue that at the next opportunity for any Bill that’s appropriate, I might actually put in an amendment to create a curfew for men on the streets after 6pm, which I feel would make women feel a lot safer.”

Baroness Jones said that, with the curfew in place, discrimination of all kinds would be lessened.

The issue surrounding of women’s safety at night has been brought into the spotlight again, following Ms Everard’s disappearance.

A London Vigil ‘Reclaim These Streets’ has been organised for this Saturday at 6pm, with over 7,000 people responding to the event on Facebook so far.
